The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on June 23, 2026, notified regarding the revised essential requirements standards for IoT Gateway, Smart Electricity Meter, Tracking Device, and Other Telecom Equipment.
The following has been stated:
• The revised standards cover IoT Gateway (TEC 24492607), Smart Electricity Meter (TEC 28362607), Tracking Device (TEC 28732607), Feedback Device (TEC 23232607), and End Point Device for Environmental Monitoring (TEC 23732607).
• To facilitate transition, the existing standards and the newly notified revised standards will remain valid concurrently for 90 days from the date of publication. After the expiry of this transition period, compliance with the revised standards alone will be mandatory for the concerned telecommunication equipment.
• The notification comes into effect from June 23, 2026.
